It’s introduction time.

My name is Felipé and I’m here to rock ya world by being honest, thoughtful, unselfconscious, and maybe a little too self-aware on the internet. THIS SHOULD BE FUN. Gather round, childrens, and I’ll tell ya moar.

Why I’m Starting This Blog

  1. To showcase my hyper-talented friends and acquaintances
  2. To interview people who inspire me
  3. To be myself, unapologetically, in public
  4. To inspire others to also be their truest selves
  5. To empower women, poc, and queer/gender-nonconforming folk
  6. To create the kind of blog I needed when I was a wee one

    • Really, anything that I happen to be really interested in. (And I am interested in everything under the sun. I could probably write a whole post about, I dunno, teaspoons. Or dirt.)

OK! Now I’mma get real narcissistic for a sec and talk about my lovely self.

A little bit of background…

I was born in 1993, making me 23 (almost 24) years old.

I’m native to the Los Angeles area, but my fam moved to Memphis, TN when I was very very wee. I’ve lived in Memphis the majority of my tiny life. From the age of 6 to the age of 14 my fam moved to Kutztown, Pennsylvania, and then back to Memphis. After high school, I went to Parsons School of Design in NYC and did my foundation year. Because of financial problems/a desire to focus on music, I went on an extended leave of absence, stuck around in NYC for another year, and moved back to Memphis near the start of 2013.

Music makes my world go ’round.

I’ve been in several musical groups and am getting back to performing regularly. In order of appearance, they were:

Greedy Kidney
The Band of Ooo
The Warp & The Weft
Ray Manta (Current Project)

My other favorite thing in the world is art.

My favorite thing to create is public art, especially murals. I would like to get into 3d public work as well, eventually. I’m very much into experiential & interactive art, and disruption.

Some general things I like:

  • Nonfiction
  • Fantasy and myth
  • Walkin’ around in nature
  • Being excited and annoying
  • All kinds of music
  • Performing
  • Singing
  • Practicing instruments (piano, guitar, accordion, uke, bass…)
  • Languages
  • Mask-making
  • Thinkin’ bout stuff
  • Herbal tea
  • Vegetables
  • Making things with my hands
  • Buddhism
  • Paganism
  • Religious studies
  • Anthropology
  • Libraries
  • Urban exploration
  • Using my hands
  • Working out
  • Martial Arts
  • Dance
  • Nonconformity
  • Radical honesty
  • Systems
  • Lists

Some things I dislike, for balance:

  • Cruelty
  • Colonialism
  • Unnecessary suffering
  • Inefficiency
  • Assumptions
  • Willful ignorance
  • Being controlled

If you ever care to talk about me, know that I am a genderfluid/nonbinary person. My pronouns are she or they. I usually prefer “they,” but for now I don’t get upset when referred to as she.

That’s all for now… First article coming soon!
